State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan
4 June 1992 will forever remain in history and memory of the people as the birthday of the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The today’s Coat of arms of sovereign Kazakhstan is the result of huge work, creative search of two known architects: Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shota Ualikhanov. It was difficult to win in this competition. It is to be recalled that only 245 projects and 67 blazons of the future coat of arms took part in final competition.
The coat of arms has a circle shape. In the world the most perfect shape is the shape of sphere. And the circle as the element closest to this perfection is especially appreciated among nomads. The circle as an element of heraldry is used everywhere, but it is in special favor and respect among eastern nomads. This is a symbol of life, eternity. The central element which has emobied the main idea of our Coat of arms is shanyrak is a circular roof-shaped cover of the dome of a yurta.
Shanyrak is a symbol of family wellbeing, peace, and tranquility. Masterfully, effectively and beautifully depicted tundyk is the zenith opening of a yurta, it resembles a bright sun amid the blue, peaceful sky. Dome poles – uyk, evenly dispersing from the center along the blue space of the Coat of arms, remind sun beams – the source of life and warmth. Authors managed to solve the problem of depiction of image of kerege – extendable lattice bases of a yurta. Cross-shaped, triple, kuldreushi of shanyrak symbolize unity of three zhuzs that provides its durability. Thus, through heraldry language the authors reflect peaceful essence of the Kazakh people. They call all people of the republic to live under the common shanyrak, aspire to turn into strong powerful supporting structures of our common home – Kazakhstan.
The following component of the compositional structure of the coat of arms are golden-winged, with moon-shaped horns, fantastic racers – tulpars. Though the image or argamaks in the state symbolics has a long history, nevertheless this variant of authors caused big discussions and disputes before it was accepted. The silhouette of racers in the language of heraldists has deep meaning and contents. It means: fearlessness of a lion, sagacity of a falcon, physical power and strength of a bull, quickness, speed and plasticity of a fallow deer, cunning and resourcefulness of a fox in fight against enemies. Gold wings of racers remind also sheaves of grain, gold ears, i.e. a sign of labor, abundance and material welfare.
In the center of the Coat of arms there is a five-pointed star. In the project there were the crescent and three small stars. In the course of a discussion the variants of eight-pointed, seven-pointed, five-pointed stars were offered. The last one was chosen. Our heart and embraces are open for representatives of all five continents.
The color gamma of the Coat of arms is made of two primary colors: golden and blue. The first one corresponds to the bright, clear future of Our people. The blue sky is common for all nations of the world. Its color in our Coat of arms embodies aspiration of Kazakhstan for peace, consent, friendship and unity with all nations of our planet.
