A Walk in the Park Led to Sport
Amanat Orazbek has been practicing triathlon for six years. His journey into this sport began with an interesting story. One day, he and his father were taking a walk in the “Triathlon” Park in Astana. The unique atmosphere and the park’s name sparked their curiosity.
After the walk, Amanat’s father decided to learn more about the park and the sport of triathlon itself. He began researching online and, after studying the subject in more detail, realized how serious and fascinating this sport truly is. That was when he suggested that his son try triathlon. Since then, Amanat has been actively training and participating in various competitions.
According to Amanat, one of the most difficult parts of his training is early morning sessions in a cold pool. Immersing himself in icy water requires tremendous willpower and patience. However, it was precisely these challenges that helped him toughen up and become a true athlete.
One of the hardest trials in his journey was a knee injury. It prevented him from training fully and disrupted his preparation for an important competition. As a result, Amanat was unable to perform at his best at the Asian Championship. This was a major disappointment, but it also became a source of new motivation. He chose to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and worked hard on his recovery.
Before the start of any competition, Amanat always listens carefully to his coach’s advice and closely follows his recommendations. He says he believes in himself, in his abilities, and in the idea that hard work and faith in victory will definitely lead to success.
The 2023 competition was especially significant for Amanat. Although he and his team placed third, he considers that moment the most valuable one — because that was when he earned the title of Master of Sport. But more importantly, in his words, the entire team came together and delivered an excellent result.
“My coach is Murat Temirbekovich. In my life, he is not just a coach — he is much more than that. He always knows how to connect with us, gives us life advice, cares about our future, and offers real support. He is a true professional, and I deeply value his work. He never leaves us without competitions, provides us with equipment, organizes training camps, and finds funding. Thanks to him, we are moving toward success. Murat Temirbekovich is a real role model,” the athlete says.
The support Amanat receives along his athletic journey is truly impressive. At home, it’s his family. At school, it’s his teachers and classmates. In sports, it’s his teammates and loyal fans.
Here’s how he speaks about that support:
“My mom wakes up at 5 a.m. to make me breakfast. We live far from the city, and my dad always finds time to drive me to practice. When I fall behind in school, my classmates help me. And with the guys from the team, with whom we live together, we’ve become like one family. Their support means a lot to me,” Amanat shares.
Today, the athletes are actively preparing for the Asian Championship, and Amanat is also deeply involved in intensive training. In the future, he dreams of competing in the World Championship, the European Championship, international tournaments, and, of course, the Olympic Games.
