Sergey Ponomarev won the quota for the World Championship
The Track Cycling Challenge (C1) took place in Switzerland from 17 to 20 December, in which our sprinter Sergei Ponomarev took second place in the keirin discipline.
Senior coach Valentin Savitsky said: "The final was very exciting. Four of the strongest and most titled Frenchmen took part in the keirin race. One of them is the World Cup winner and World Championship medalist Sebastien Ogier. In this powerful company Sergey managed to prove himself and take a prize.
The result strengthened his position in the national team and allowed him to win the quota for the World Championship. We have confidently completed the tasks set before us. Now Sergey will have a recovery period and preparation for the championship".
