In Astana, the World Cup in Modern Pentathlon started. In the final part of the competition, the strongest athletes from 25 countries of the world were selected who entered the international TOP-36 ranking among men and women.

At the opening ceremony, President of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon UIPM Klaus Schorman noted the importance of our country as a "support for UIPM and the Olympic movement in Asia".

"Astana - a new destination in our world championships in modern pentathlon and a suitable place for this special occasion. Many important sporting events were organized here, and we can proudly unite our global community in this wonderful city", notes Mr. Shorman.

The World Modern Pentathlon World Cup final will be held from June 21 to 24 on the basis of the Saryarka cycle track, the Barys Arena sports complex and the Kazanat race track.

Kazakhstan at an important international start is represented by Pavel Ilyashenko, Vladislav Sukharev and Ardak Ahidullaev.

On the first start day, the participants of the international tournament competed in fencing. As a result of the first day, P.Ilyashenko settled on the 18th place with 214 points, V.Sukharev goes to 34th place with 148 points. The leader on the basis of the starting day was Korean Jiun Jing Hwa - 256 points.

Ardak Ahidullaeva after the start day is 33rd with 154 points. Among the girls, the Russian Ekaterina Khuraskina, 268 points, is still the leader. The World Cup final in Astana will broadcast 21 international Broadcasters around the world.

Tomorrow will be the women's final. From 13.30 clock in the "Barys Arena" there will be swimming competitions, at the racetrack "Kazanat" - a bonus round on fencing, horse riding, laser (running and shooting), there will be a ceremony of awarding the first medalists of the World Cup finals.
