The Asian Weightlifting Championships among men and women have come to an end. Today, June 25, Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Aborneva added to her medal collection by taking gold in the weight category up to +75 kg. In the weight category up to 105 kg, third place went to Ibragim Bersanov with a total result of 185 kg. Iranian Rashid Sharifi took first place. The second was the athlete Chen Shihchieh from Taipei.

“Alexandra and Ibrahim are quite experienced athletes. They took part in the World Championships, Universiade, and Republican competitions. It was important for us to win gold, Alexandra coped with the task. As for Ibrahim, he did everything to the maximum. His opponents were the strongest athletes in Asia,” commented the head coach of the Kazakhstan national team, Alexey Ni.

Among the guests of honor on this day was the Iranian weightlifter Hossein Rezazadeh, whose name has been known in world circles for several years. Rezazadeh is rightfully considered a record holder in weight over 105 kg.

“I appreciate the event at the highest level. The athletes in our weight category were well prepared. I am glad to be present as an honored guest at the Asian Championships. I wish prosperity to sports in Kazakhstan, especially weightlifting.” - Iranian champion Hussein Rezazadeh commented.

The Kazakhstanis have 3 gold, 2 bronze and one silver in their total treasury. Not bad results for beginner athletes.

“Everyone achieved their goals. Who we bet on in principle and took the weights. We can safely say that the Championship was a great success, with honor and dignity. Now our main task is to prepare for the World Championship,” shared Alexey Ni.

At the end, the closing ceremony of the Asian Weightlifting Championship and a small photo session with the participants and honored guests of the competition took place.

“This is one of the best Asian Championships. Look at the number of fans and honored guests gathered at the sports complex of the cycling track. I will repeat once again that this track is one of the modernized ones that I have seen and it is quite possible to hold this kind of competition here,” Ali Muradi, Secretary General of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, expressed words of admiration.

“I congratulate everyone on the successful completion of the competition and I would like to wish the athletes to achieve even greater results. We hope to meet you at the World Championships in the same place, on the same platform of the cycling track. “Thank you so much to everyone for your support and attention,” the President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, Mohamed Youssef Al-Mana, expressed his wishes.
