Inclusive sports festival "CHILDREN PARALYMPIC GAMES" and the Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Paralympic sport of boccia

On June 17-18, 2022, the Inclusive Sports Festival "CHILDREN PARALYMPIC GAMES" and the Paralympic Boccia Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held in the capital.

The purpose of the sports festival is to increase the motivation of children and youth with disabilities to regular physical activity and sports and to attract due attention of the public and authorities to the problematic issues of people with disabilities in terms of mass sports.

Pupils of the sections of the social project "Salamatty bolashak" - children and youth with disabilities - came from 15 cities to compete in such sports disciplines as boccia, goalball, adaptive martial arts (karate, taekwondo, judo), adaptive football, inclusive choreography, adaptive swimming, adaptive athletics, football 7*7.

Along with "special" children, normotypical children also took part in swimming competitions within the framework of the festival.

The most numerous regional team was the team from Pavlodar region.

At each of the sports grounds by sports, athletes competed with rivals from other regions in accordance with the classification according to diagnoses and in accordance with the principle of "equal opportunities".

In parallel with the festival, the first in the history of wheelchair sports in Kazakhstan was held - the Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Paralympic sport of boccia, whose participants are children and youth with severe lesions of the musculoskeletal system. The championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Paralympic sport of boccia was held at the Zhekpezhek Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.

The goal of the Championship is to identify the best bocce players for their further promotion to the world arena - the Paralympic Games. From mass sports to elite sports is the dream of all athletes with disabilities.

273 participants took part in the festival, and 47 participants in the boccia championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
