Kazakhstan hosts the Asian Cycling Championships for the first time

On May 21 at 11:00 a press conference “Kazakhstan is hosting the Asian Cycling Championships for the first time” was held at the Republican cycling track “Saryarka”.

The holding of the Asian Championship in Kazakhstan is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kazakhstani cycling. The press conference was attended by: Vice-President of the Cycling Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aitekenov Kairat Medybaevich and Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Sports and Physical Culture Kuranbek Sarsen Abaevich.

In the speech of Aitekenov K.M. it was said: “Today we are witnessing the beginning of the Asian Cycling Championship, which will be held for the first time in Kazakhstan. With the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Sports and Physical Culture, the Republican State Enterprise “Republican Cycling Track “Saryarka”, the Kazakhstan Cycling Federation, the Akimat of the city. Astana and Karaganda region. Such a large-scale event was discussed in advance and agreed upon with the Asian Confederation. More than 500 athletes will take part in the Asian Cycling Championships."

Kazakhstan will be represented at the Asian Championship by national teams. The following will perform on the track: Robert Gaineev (winner of the 2012 World Junior Championship), Dias Omirzakov, Nikita Panasenko, Dmitry Lukyanov, Pavel Gatsky, Zhaksylyk Pazylbek (winners and prize-winners of the 2013 Asian Cup), Ekaterina Yuraitis (multiple medalist of the Asian Championship). Entering the road competition from Kazakhstan are: Dmitry Gruzdev, (Champion of the Asian Games 2006, multiple winner of the Asian Championship) Valentin Iglinsky, Maxim Iglinsky (winner of the professional one-day race Liege-Bastogne-Liège 2012) Daniil Fominykh, Alexander Dyachenko, Ruslan Tleubaev, Arman Kamyshev.

At the end of the press conference, Kuranbek Sarsen Abaevich announced that today at 16:00 in the Palace of Independence a memorandum will be signed between the Akimat of Astana, Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Sports and Physical Culture on the introduction of bicycle paths.
