The tournament was attended by athletes from 38 countries (366 participants: 205 men and 161 women). The honor of the country was defended by Maxim Rakov - 2009 world champion, Azamat Mukanov – 2013 World Championship silver medalist, Eldos Smet – 2014 Asian Games champion.

From the first days, our athletes performed well, winning four medals of the home tournament. The gold medal was brought by Eldos Smetov (60 kilograms), silver by Zhansaya Smaguov (66 kg), bronze medals were won by Ashat Thalmann (60 kilograms) and Aziz Kalkamanuly (under 81 kg).

The final day was the most joyous for the fans. Maxim Rakov defended his title of a champion by winning over the bronze medalist of the London Olympics, Dimitri Peters, from Germany.
