International rhythmic gymnastics tournament “Zhuldyz-2012”

01.06.2013

The first International rhythmic gymnastics tournament “Zhuldyz-2012”, timed to coincide with Children’s Day, started in Astana.

For some participants, this children's and youth tournament is the first in their lives. Gymnasts from 3 to 13 years old perform at the tournament. 500 young athletes from Israel, Belarus, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Slovakia and Kazakhstan competed for medals in individual programs and group exercises. Rhythmic gymnastics is popular among young Kazakhstani women. This is evidenced by the successes of the Zhuldyz gymnastics school, recently created in Astana. Ekaterina Panchenko works as a coach here, who led our prima Aliya Yusupova to success.

Aliya YUSUPOVA, CHIEF COACH OF THE RK TEAM:

- They perform very bravely on the court. They look beautiful, good, I think this is a very good competition for children. As the head coach of the country, I look at these children and see that we have a good future in gymnastics.
