The VTB United League website summed up the results of the 15th round of the regular season, recalling its most striking events and heroes. The victory of the capital "Astana" over "Tsmoki-Minsk" was called "Confidence of the tour."

“Astana” strengthened its position by defeating “Tsmoki-Minsk” at home (99:82).

Astana head coach Aleksandar Trifunovic did not try to mislead his counterpart Donaldas Kairis before the game, openly declaring that his team would rely on defense in the upcoming meeting. In fact, the champion of Kazakhstan immediately tightened the screws, leaving the guests minimal freedom and severely limiting their main movements in the area of the three-point arc. The attack of “Tsmoka” under such pressure gradually began to choke, “Astana”, on the contrary, managed to improve and created a reserve already in the first 10 minutes.

An important victory over one of their pursuers allowed the Astana team to rise to fifth place in the Group B standings.

For Tsmoki-Minsk, this was the eighth defeat in a row. The team had a great start in the regular season, but then something clearly went wrong. The last time the “dragons” defeated “Astana”, but it was on November 17 last year. On Monday, the club announced that Kairis is leaving the capital of Belarus, and the vacated position will be filled by his assistant Andrei Krivonos, who already headed the Minsk team from 2008 to 2013,” writes the VTB United League website.
