Today, May 26, 2016 at 12:00 o’clock in the conference room of the cycling track a press conference and awarding of the winners and prize-winners of the European Championship and the Absolute Asian Championship in Kyokushinkai-kan karate was held.

Temirlan Zhanibek wins the European Championship for the second time

On May 21-22, 2016, in the Bulgarian city of Varna, the competitions of the European Championship in Kyokushinkai-kan karate in age categories from 12 to 17 years and among veterans from 35 years and older ended. Over 600 karatekas from 25 countries took part in this prestigious, open European Championship. The Kazakhstan national team was represented by athletes of the national Kyokushinkai-kan federation in the amount of five participants. In the age category of 16-17 years, and in the weight category up to 65 kg, a student of the sports club “Zhiger”, akimat of the city of Astana, Temirlan Zhanibekov, having defeated all his opponents, became the European champion! In all four stubborn battles, our Temirlan, showing a bright and dynamic fighting technique, left no chance for his rivals. He completed all fights with a rating of “ippon” (complete victory). It should be noted that Temirlan wins the European Championship for the second time.

Absolute victory at the Asian Championships

From April 30 to May 2, 2016, the “Absolute Asian Championship in Kyokushin-kan karate” among men and women was held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou. This respectable continental championship was attended by 48 athletes from 15 Asian countries, 32 of the best fighters among men and 16 of the strongest among women.

The Kazakhstan team had the right to field four men and two women. As a result, the entire podium for men was occupied by Kazakh karatekas! However, our women also excelled here - taking first and second places, respectively. Our fighters distinguished themselves with their bright, dynamic, strong-willed fighting technique and defeated their opponents without leaving them the slightest chance of success. After the last two rounds, our fighters met and competed against each other to reach the finals. In the first semi-final, a fighter from the Karaganda region Nikita Garas met with a karateka from the Akmola region Berik Kurmangaliev and in the second semi-final two Astana residents met: Nurlykhan Sadvokasov and Daniyar Alimussinov. As a result, after the Kazakhstan semi-finals, Nikita Garas and Nurlykhan Sadvakasov made it to the final.

Both Kazakh women's participants Alemgul Sabyrkhan from Akmola region and Ayaulym Muratova from Astana reached the finals and competed for gold medals among themselves. As a result, Nikita Garas and Alemgul Sabyrkhan became Asian champions in Kyokushin-kan karate. Second places went to Nurlykhan Sadvokasov and Ayaulym Muratova and bronze to Daniyar Alimussinov.

Our fighters showed a high desire for victory, patriotic and team spirit, a strong and powerful level of domestic Kyokushinkai-kan karate. In honor of the victories of our athletes, the National Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan was sounded twice and the flag of our Motherland was raised!

Together with the team, as a representative at this Championship, the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by the vice-president of the RNFKK, Sairanbek Abilkairov, as well as coaches and judges Azamat Takenov, Igor Lim and Zhenis Dauren.

In conclusion, the chief judge of the competition, President of the Asian Kyokushinkaikan Karate Federation Peter Chong noted the strong professional growth of the Kazakh fighters and congratulated them on their unconditional victory.
