Training seminar "Disability and sport in the media mirror: promotion of Paralympic sports"

On January 19-20, a training seminar "Disability and sport in the media mirror: promotion of Paralympic sports" was held at the sports facility of the RSE "Olympic Cycling Training Center". The purpose of this training was to train journalists in the correct coverage of disability issues and Paralympic sports in general. The training seminar was attended by experts from government and non-governmental organizations, an international expert from the USA -John Register - speaker, a US Paralympic athlete, participant in the Paralympic Games, adviser to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on disability issues in 2007, and later adviser to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The following speakers were also announced: Ayan Tolegen - TV journalist and sports commentator of the Kazsport TV channel; Zulfiya Gabidullina-Champion of the XV Summer Paralympic Games "Rio2016", Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan in swimming; Diana Okremova is the director of the Legal Media Center, a social journalist with many years of experience (Nasha Gazeta, Vzglyad), Gulnara Ceylan is the PR manager of the National Paralympic Committee and other interesting speakers. The seminar was held for two days from 09-00 to 18.00. The training program included the theoretical and practical part of covering the topic of disability and Paralympic sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the correctness of presenting this material, gaining communication skills with athletes with disabilities during interviews and in general when communicating, as well as understanding the standards of PR promotion and brand standards of the International Paralympic Committee. On the second day of the seminar, sports events were held under the auspices of: "Sport against all odds. Sport for everyone", where each of the training participants could feel like a Paralympic athlete, defending the honor of his team in conditions close to the realities of sports everyday life of athletes with disabilities.
