Shakhter Karaganda defeated Scottish Celtic 2-0 in the first match of the Champions League playoff round.

The match, which took place in Astana at the Astana Arena stadium, ended with a score of 2:0. The score was opened in the 12th minute, the captain of the Karaganda team Andrei Finonchenko scored. In the 77th minute, Sergei Khizhnichenko doubled Shakhtar's advantage.

After the end of the game, a press conference was held, where Captain Andrey Finonchenko shared his impressions.

— I am happy for the whole team and for the whole of Kazakhstan! We managed to beat such a strong club as Celtic at home, but this is only the beginning, there is still a second match ahead. I hope that in the return match we will be able to successfully complete what we started in Astana. 

— How do you like the support of the stands?
— Thank you to all the fans for supporting us so warmly today and helping us achieve such an important victory! 

— At the start of the match, Celtic created certain problems for Shakhtar's defense. Was it due to the nervousness of our players or to the fact that the Celts went forward with great strength? 
— It's hard to say. Maybe we were a little nervous at first, but then we were able to extinguish the excitement and level the game. 

— How did you sleep before this important meeting?
To be honest, I wasn't worried at all. I slept peacefully.
