The team of the basketball club "Astana" will defend the title of holders Cup of Kazakhstan in the final match against Kostanay "Tobol", which will be held in the capital on Thursday, November 17, beginning at 19:30 Moscow time.

Kostanay “Tobol” was considered one of the favorites of the Kazakhstan Cup 2020 even before it started in February this year, and then in the quarterfinals twice confidently beat “Aktobe”, securing an exit to the semifinals. But then the coronavirus pandemic came and the Kazakhstan Cup was postponed indefinitely. And now, after more than eight months, the fate of the Kazakhstan Cup will finally be decided.

The composition of the Kostanay team has changed since that time and several key players have left it. Nevertheless, “Tobol” proved that in any case, it is one of the favorites of the tournament, beating “Barsov Atyrau” in the semifinals. The capital team in the official season has not yet crossed with the Kostanay team, but the teams held a control meeting in the preseason. In that meeting, “Astana” won a major victory, leaving no chance for the rivals. Then legionnaires played for our team, and in the upcoming Cup final only the Kazakhstani squad will play. Preferences before the game are on the side of our squad, but “Tobol” will definitely try to present “surprises” and will definitely cause a lot of trouble. It is also worth remembering the game between “Astana” and “Tobol” in the 2018/2019 season, then our team snatched a victory with a difference of only one point. So, despite the fact that the preferences are on the side of “Astana”, there is no need to talk about an easy walk and our team will have to make a lot of efforts to remain the current owner of the Cup of Kazakhstan.
