OLYMPIC CHAMPION ALEXANDER VINOKUROV SUPPORTS INCLUSIVE CYCLING IN ASTANA
Today, the Saryarka Velodrome was visited by legendary Kazakh cyclist and Olympic champion Alexander Vinokurov. The purpose of the visit was to support children with autism spectrum disorder who regularly train in cycling at the sports facility.
During the visit, he familiarized himself with the training process and met with young athletes, coaches, and parents. For these children, cycling is not only a sport, but also an important tool for developing coordination, concentration, self-confidence, and interaction skills with the surrounding world.
Of particular note is the fact that these children took part in the filming of the documentary AUT (OUT), dedicated to inclusive cycling and the opportunities that sport provides for children on the autism spectrum. The film tells the story of training sessions, the children’s inner journeys, and the support provided by coaches and parents. The film was directed by Kazakh filmmaker Kanat Beisekeyev (@beisekeyev).
The visit of Alexander Vinokurov and the release of the film AUT highlight the importance of developing inclusive sports initiatives and demonstrate that sport in Kazakhstan is a space of equal opportunities, support, and acceptance.
