Winners of the national triathlon championship are determined

04.03.2019

Today the Winter Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan on triathlon in the closed premises was completed in the capital's “Saryarka” cycle track. 74 athletes from the cities of Astana, Shymkent and Akmola, Karaganda, Kostanay, Zhambyl, Turkestan and East Kazakhstan regions took part in the two-day competition.

The first day of the competition included swimming and running programs. Traditionally, the competition opened the athletes of the category Elite, U23 and U19, who overcame 400 meters of swimming and 2,000 meters of running. Twice shorter was the distance of the athletes of categories U15 and U17.

The second day of the Winter Championship was dedicated to the bike segment. It was striking that for some athletes the oval of the Saryarka cycle track was a novelty, and even the time that was allowed for warm-up was not enough to fully adapt to the surface. On this day, athletes in the age group up to 17 years old competed at a distance of 2,000 meters, and older athletes overcame a 4,000 meter distance.

Note that the spectacular struggle was between participants in different age groups throughout all stages of the championship. This is evident from the high density of the final results. Also, sports fans were pleased by the fact that they saw many new young talented athletes who in the near future will be able to compete with already experienced athletes.
